About Decker, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Decker, Indiana is a tiny town located in Knox County. Only about 250 people live in this community, which is primarily agricultural and relies heavily on the production of cantaloupe and watermelon. There was a school here that previously served all grades, but in 1967, the middle and high school grades consolidated into South Knox High School. In 1999, grades K-5 also consolidated into South Knox School System. Decker is located about 16 miles south of Vincennes and 44 miles north of Evansville, allowing residents to easily enjoy all of the cultural opportunities of these nearby communities.

With only a couple of hundred residents, there aren’t any major attractions located in Decker. However, a few important businesses are found here, including Freyco Inc, a local produce store that sells fruits and vegetables. There are several great restaurants located in nearby Hazleton, including White River Inn and Ohana Hilltop Tavern Hazleton. Shopping is also popular in the region, especially at the Finders Keepers Outlet Mall in Princeton and the Eastland Mall in Evansville.

The Decker area is known for being part of a humid subtropical climate region. Winters here are drier and warmer than more northern parts of Indiana, but the right climate control system is still a necessity. Cold temperatures, which can easily fall below freezing overnight, are common, and without the right gas or electric furnace, conditions indoors could become dangerous. Local HVAC technicians can help Decker residents to choose a new furnace and are trained to service existing systems, ensuring they’ll work properly when needed.

Spring and autumn temperatures in Decker are warm, but they tend to bookend a humid and hot summer. Temperatures over 90 degrees are recorded many days each year, and high humidity is also common. This can lead to some unbearably hot conditions, so residents are smart to invest in an Energy Star central air conditioning system.
